Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Public Policy Manager, the Digital Equity Program Coordinator will support the Digital Equity and Navigation Programs of El Concilio of San Mateo County (ECSMC), leading the New Voices for Youth Program and ¡Conectémonos!. These programs connect community members and youth with digital resources and build technology and digital literacy across our communities. The Coordinator will also provide ongoing technology education, training, and support for ECSMC programs, staff, volunteers, and promotores.

About the Digital Equity and Navigation Programs

New Voices for Youth supports students from underserved communities in using video and other digital tools for advocacy. Meeting at afterschool centers, students choose topics, practice interviews, and create and edit digital narratives. The program has historically taken place twice a week in North Fair Oaks at the Siena Youth Center (SYC), and in East Palo Alto at the Boys and Girls Club (BGCP).

¡Conectémonos! supports and guides local community members in navigating technology and building digital literacy, with the help of high school volunteers. The program currently takes place at the North Fair Oaks Library three days a week, with plans to expand to additional locations.

Tasks Include:

• Lead and coordinate the Digital Equity and Navigation programs and initiatives

• Administer and facilitate workshops and trainings across both programs

• Develop workshop content for the Conectemonos program

• Teach video filming and editing or other techniques, both online and in person

• Work with local after-school programs and providers to establish partnerships

• Recruit youth from local after-school centers and support their participation in the New Voices for Youth

• Mentor, train, and provide ongoing support to high school volunteers

• Foster a supportive, inclusive learning environment for youth and adult learners

• Maintain accurate program data and assist with reports and data entry

• Serve as a liaison between ECSMC, working groups/subcommittees, including conducting presentations as needed

• Manage ongoing relationships with the North Fair Oaks Library, afterschool programs, and school sites

• Provide technology support to ECSMC Programs as needed

• Conduct outreach as needed for Conectemonos program

• Support the communications team as needed

• Perform additional administrative tasks as needed

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree, or 2 years of experience working in technology education, community training, digital literacy programs, or in a similar field

• English proficiency required; bilingual (Spanish) preferred

• Commitment to supporting the agency’s overall mission and vision

• Ability to exercise good judgment, tact, and diplomacy when interacting with clients, guests, volunteers, and coworkers

• Demonstrated record of good attendance and punctuality

• Strong attention to detail

Compensation

$24-$27 hourly, benefited position

Work Schedule

40 hours/week. Final Schedule will be finalized upon hiring; typical schedule is Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday 12-8 PM, and Tuesday and Saturday 10 AM-6 PM. Most programming takes place in the evening, and some weekend work is required.

Location

Hybrid- direct service and programming are on-site, while some meetings and administration may be done remotely.

Position Summary:

El Concilio of San Mateo County is seeking dynamic, community-minded individuals to join our team as On-call Promotores. Promotores serve as trusted bridges between local residents, community programs, and vital social and health services. Working directly under the guidance of the Outreach Coordinator, the Promotora engages community members through direct outreach, culturally responsive health and social resource navigation, and event support across San Mateo County. This is an on-call, flexible position designed for individuals who are passionate about peer advocacy, health equity, and empowering local families on a schedule that fits event and community needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Community Outreach & Engagement: Participate in grassroots outreach activities, including tabling at local health fairs, community centers, schools, churches, markets, and neighborhoods to share information on community programs and resources.

• Resource Navigation & Referrals: Connect community members with social services, healthcare access, housing assistance, and other essential local resources.

• Peer Education: Deliver culturally tailored health, wellness, and civic participation information directly to individuals and small groups in the community.

• Event Support & Logistics: Assist in setting up, conducting, and cleaning up after workshops, resource distribution events, and community meetings.

• Feedback & Insights: Collect basic outreach logs, attendance counts, and community feedback to share with the Outreach Coordinator to help refine outreach strategies.

• Training & Participation: Attend required organization meetings, skill-building workshops, and team orientation sessions.

• Community Connection: Strong ties to and shared lived experience with the San Mateo County communities served.

• Language Skills: Bilingual in Spanish and English required (verbal and written).

• Interpersonal Skills: Warm, empathetic, and effective communicator with strong active listening and interpersonal connection abilities.

• Work Style: Reliable, adaptable, and comfortable engaging directly with diverse members of the public in outdoor and community-based settings.

• Transportation: Access to reliable transportation to travel to various event sites across San Mateo County.

• Experience: Prior experience in grassroots community outreach, volunteerism, or peer health education is preferred but not required—passion for community service is essential.

Schedule & Compensation

• Hours & Schedule: On-Call / Part-time based on program needs and event schedules (typically 5–15 hours per week). Requires flexibility, including evenings and weekends for community events.

• Compensation: $20.00 – $25.00 per hour (commensurate with experience).
