Climate Ready Ambassadors
Building Community Leadership for a Resilient Future
El Concilio’s Climate Ready Ambassadors program equips local residents with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to lead conversations about climate change, environmental justice, and community resilience in San Mateo County.
Through culturally relevant training, peer learning, and hands-on outreach, our Ambassadors become trusted messengers—sharing critical information with their neighbors, advocating for equitable climate solutions, and helping their communities prepare for and respond to climate impacts like heatwaves, flooding, and poor air quality.
What We Do
• Train community members on climate science, adaptation strategies, and local environmental policies
• Center lived experience and environmental justice in every conversation
• Connect Ambassadors with local agencies and resources to amplify their leadership
• Support grassroots outreach in Spanish and English across under-resourced neighborhoods
• Build community capacity to engage in climate planning, emergency preparedness, and sustainable practices
Why It Matters
Climate change doesn’t impact all communities equally. Low-income and immigrant communities—many of whom have contributed least to the problem—are often the most vulnerable to its effects. Our Climate Ready Ambassadors ensure that frontline communities are informed, engaged, and leading the way in creating resilient, healthy futures.
