Economic Justice
At El Concilio, we believe that economic opportunity is a cornerstone of equity and justice. Our Economic Justice & Workforce Development efforts are focused on building pathways for community members—especially excluded workers, immigrants, low-income families, and emerging leaders—to thrive, not just survive.
We support inclusive economic development through a range of community-based strategies:
Support for Worker Cooperatives, Entrepreneurs, and Small Businesses
We aim to uplift local talent and innovation by offering guidance, technical assistance, and access to resources for community members seeking to start or grow their own businesses—especially models rooted in shared ownership and worker empowerment.
We are currently in a development phase of a vision to create a model for economies driven by the power of worker-ownership. In partnership with Somos MayFair, the vision is to establish two hubs- one in Santa Clara County and the other in San Mateo County led by El Concilio to help community members establish and expand climate resilient, community serving co-ops, build public support for this model, and develop an ecosystem of diverse partners regionally and beyond.
The hubs will provide integrated technical assistance, training, financial services, leadership development, and advocacy.
Incubation & Fiscal Sponsorship of Grassroots Organizations
El Concilio serves as a home and launching pad for grassroots groups working to improve conditions in their own neighborhoods. Through incubation and fiscal sponsorship, we provide structure, support, and capacity-building tools to help local leaders bring their visions to life.

Partnership-Based Career Navigation & Digital Upskilling
We partner with workforce agencies, training programs, and tech access organizations to ensure community members can build the skills they need to access good jobs, grow professionally, and adapt in a rapidly changing economy.
